Mustafa!
contrary to what my muslim friend Z commented about a certain olefactory waft that hits him so bad he can't stay long in mustafa centre, i found it a fascinating and a fantastic place to shop!
was there with angie and angela (ruding came later on) yesterday. and i'm proud to announce that i'm a happy owner of the Second most Gu Niang luggage bag ever! i say 'Second Most' because the most gu niang luggage bag we saw was covered in huge blooming red rose prints!! Lorjel. never heard of the brand, but its supposed to be one of the better jap brands - we shall see.....
going to mustafa reminded me of my NUS pre-exam serious swotting days where i would move from the central library after a few hours of intensive, mind numbing studying, to the CO-OP. i spend 30min at the Co-Op just STARING and touching and walking -mindlessly, aimlessly, happily. :) i loved the sensation of being engulfed and completely overwhelmed by the smell of brown paper in the stationary/books section, the exciting crackling potential of junk food packets waiting to be eaten, the various varieties of sweetschocsmintsgummies, and the neverending buzz of people milling constantly around me. it was like splashing all the way down into the middle of the ocean and sinking into a depth of silence... therapeutic i tell u. everyone shd try it!
back to mustafa. 6levels (of shoes clothes computers homeapplicances sportsequipment aromatherapy spices bedlinen dogfood kitchenware cameras food cosmetics jewellery dailyessentials), spread across 2 buildings. there's an incredible energy, an incredible buzz, and and incredible array of STUFF. pple who like STUFF u gotta go! they sell anything and everything (if you want to buy sex, just pop over to the nearby desker road...) to anybody from anywhere.
the experience walking along the streets to a restaurant called Raj was great! it was like u were in another country - and the sense of a multicultural atmosphere was palpable. really exotic. this is one of the places u Must Visit - any time (its open 24hrs!) any day! :)
