Omoshiro Yama

hung out with mitsuru (japan) and sundar (india) at omoshiro yama (lit: interesting mountain) on saturday. we had to wake up at 6am?!?! that's singapore 5am! groossss! took a train and arrived at the mountain train station at about 8am. look! we look so awake and fresh



mitsuru has climbed lots and lots of mtns, had been to omoshiro yama 10times before this so he was leading. sundar is a freaking athlete with legs that are way too long! combined with this cuckoo who hasn't moved her ass in years and years... and has a recorded pulse rate of 82/min (at rest!!!) what do you get....

gotta pay tribute to the 2 guys who were daaaamn nice and tolerated my retarded walking pace! :) LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!




anyway, we had a nice walk up and not-so-nice tumble down. :) these were some of the critters we saw along the way..

this baby snake was just slithering around right in the middle of our path! luckily it was a baby and didn't really know how to slither away fast enuff.... photo thanks to mitsuru who was fast enuff - all the photos i took turned out lousy!!!




then this insect is very noisy, and heralds the coming of summer. think its called a 'Semi' ...

oh did you know that ostriches are found on mountains?!?! :)

this one we didn't see it along our path. but after our trek. i thought it was an ostrich farm - cause there were like 6-8 ostriches in a pen, so wanted to get some ostrich eggs ! but when mitsuru asked the guy at the counter, it turned out that the ostriches are sterile?! *boinnnng* so they are pets?! i dunno man.


next, a really interesting mushroom-flower-like plant! does anyone know what this is?!!? we couldn't figure it out. we thought it was like some venus fly trap so sundar started using a branch to poke it to see if it would suddenly grab it.. but it didn't. very pretty in a post-modern fantasy novel kinda way.

final pic, us at the summit -- although the signboard says 1200m, we started climbing from 400m, so we did about 800m only... all in all, it took us about 9 hrs, including bumming and doing silly things like getting licked by cows and taking pictures of ostriches and worms :)
