鳥海山 (Bird-Sea Mountain)

had a really nice time at choukaisan (bird-sea mountain) with mitsuru and yamaguchi-san (or gu-san for short). once again, i was the only gal but we went at a comfortable pace. it was gu-san's first mountain climbing trip (if u discount his unplanned climb up mt fuji) and he had a really good time!



the weather was supposed to good. and the lowest temp was only supposed to be 7degrees but hey. check this out.



we wondered... how come the tops of the plants are so white huh... then realised that they were FROZEN WHITE..... then... we wondered how come there was so much dust floating about on a mountain ... then realised it was SNOW. freaking snow. in fact, it wasn't just snow. there was also wind...and i testify that wind and snow don't make a very good combination, especially when you're not wearing gloves!!!!!!

didn't make the summit cause it was abit too precarious with the weather conditions. at certain points on the trek, it was like we were walking in another narnia-like wonderworld






but it was a very nice trip! :) enjoyed it!

if you look carefully at the pic, u can see 2 ladders leading against the rock face. i didn't like that part very much cause i kept thinking that the ladder was going to fall backwards!! haha ... in this pic u can also see the difference in ''climates'' between the first part of the climb and the second part.


very early on in the trek. i love the yellows, greens and reds. it was a first for me.

this is the rather special round rainbow effect that we saw on the way down. i like!!!

Mitsuru

after the 8.5hr climb, we went to an onsen. that THAT WAS GREEEAT! i ended up being the only one in the onsen (its separated into male and female sections) so i had the luxury of singing, humming and basically imagining that this was MY VERY OWN BATHROOM ho ho ho. :)
